Google Assistant could be on your Android phone soon

In its initial announcement of the rollout in February, Google said that Assistant would arrive for English speakers in the United States first.

To get the new Assistant, the users don't need to dig the Play Store for any update or something, the Assistant will be pushed to your phone with an automatic update to the Google Play Services. In the next Allo update, Google is rolling out an improved GIF search feature, animated emojis and a quicker way to access Google Assistant. Previously, and since Google Assistant was launched in October past year, it was just available on Google's own Pixel devices, Google Home, Android Wear and Allo messaging app. You can also add random GIFs when chatting by tapping the Lucky icon on the Smart Reply or just typing @lucky then a phrase like LMAO, wow, or i love you, and it will share a random GIF. The new updated message application automatically default the messaging app on Android phones.

Once installed, Google Assistant will replace the Now on Tap functionality that most Android M and N smartphones come with. What truly made Google angry was the fact that Amazon chose to install Alexa on the Android powered Huawei P10 smartphone. At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, Google announced the Assistant's integration in a clutch of phones, including the LG G6 and Nokia 6.

Google on Thursday announced that its AI-powered virtual assistant will now be available with a wider range of smartphones running on Nougat and Marshmallow flavour of Android. Android M and Android N users would simply be prompted with an update in their devices' Google Play Services. Well the key advantage of Google Assistant is that it has a heightened contextual awareness, and will understand your questions based on what you're looking at on a page, or the questions you've previously asked.
