Is Bannon in peril? Trump comments worry his populist base

And don't ever forget that Trump is the main attraction.

It was a cruel jab - Bannon headed the Trump campaign for the last 11 decisive weeks; he was a key player in the transition; and on arriving at the White House he was the man.

At the same time, Gary Cohn, the president's top economic adviser, along with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross have sought greater influence and a reordering of priorities within the White House. Kushner is an immovable object in Trump's inner circle, and those who don't treat him as such tend to write their own fate (Corey Lewandowski, Chris Christie). That, for anyone who hasn't followed Trump since the New York City tabloids were fat and literally dripping with classifieds, predates this past political cycle by a decades.

Page also met with a Russian intelligence operative in 2013 and provided him documents about the energy industry, according to court documents from a 2015 prosecution alleging a Cold War-style spy ring in NY.

Kushner, on the other hand, has always been viewed as a moderating force, a check on Bannon's more unsavory tendencies.

In the Obama administration, top aides generally took vacation at the same time as Obama, as long as they were not staffing the President on the vacation. But as Aaron Blake points out: "Bannon joined the campaign in August for the lion's share of the general election, taking on the role of campaign CEO".

For Trump, however, the timeline is crystal clear.

Bannon also has a reputation for talking to reporters on background.

Still, Kushner has some powerful allies inside the White House.

But all that press appears to have spun out of control. The President and other aides have since concluded that Bannon's wrecking-ball approach has led to missteps, dysfunction and sagging polls. As Trump succinctly put it in his interview with the Post: "Steve is a good guy, but I told them to straighten it out or I will". "Before the presidential campaign, I didn't know Steve (Bannon)". "I'm my own strategist and it wasn't like I was going to change", he said.

Dortmund suffer after another bus incident, the 'worst thing that could happen'
And now they are the favorites to go through to the semi-final of this year's competition. Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel accepted that his side fell short.

Pence reassures Japan as North Korea threatens 'weekly' tests
The trip so far has been dominated by US and allies' concerns about North Korea's nuclear and missile development efforts. "My presence here, which the president strongly urged even in this challenging time, is really to deliver that message".

Hollywood writers overwhelmingly authorize strike
The two sides are at odds over what concessions the guild would make in return for producers contributing more to the health plan. The last writers' strike started in November 2007 and lasted for nearly four months, affecting a huge swathe of U.S. programming.

The spokesman says Manafort's lobbying work was not conducted on behalf of the Russian government and began before Manafort started working with the Trump campaign.

It's Bannon's rift with Kushner that seems to have troubled the president the most.

Conway, meanwhile, has nearly disappeared from television after emerging as one of Trump's leading representatives earlier this year. Spicer has apologized repeatedly, including on Wednesday, and the White House hopes that controversy will pass. Will Trump fire Bannon altogether and if that happens, how many ways can Bannon seek revenge is what Washington D.C insiders are discussing.

Bannon has also reportedly drawn the ire of Jared Kushner, a senior adviser to Trump and husband of his daughter Ivanka.

Sessions said he was committed toward ending "illegality" at the border. "You absolutely do not want to be seen as the occupier or the force behind the throne".

To me, that's a bit of a brushback pitch to remind Bannon that hey, he's staff, and that it was Trump that got Trump elected. "Dance with the one who brung ya", Miller said. "Today's headlines suggest those multiple sources were right".

Mr Bannon recently lost his coveted place on the National Security Council, which decides issues of war and peace.

Kushner is dishing to Morning Joe's Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, they've determined.

"The reality is Powell is their guiding operative", Kassam tweeted. But budget director Mick Mulvaney says many jobs will remain unfilled as the White House embarks on a government-wide effort to overhaul the executive branch and significantly reduce its workforce.
