Celtics, Lakers, 76ers have plenty riding on the NBA lottery

The Detroit Pistons find themselves back in the NBA Draft Lottery after just one year in the playoffs. They could also wind up picking seventh (and that's it).

76ERS: The winners of last year's lottery will really "Trust the Process" if they win even bigger Tuesday.

Now in addition to the Magic's lottery pick, they also hold the 25th and 35th picks this year.

Two picks in top four: 8.7%. The 76ers acquired rights to that protected pick from Phoenix, which originally owned it through the trade of two-time MVP Steve Nash to Los Angeles back in 2012. Without a doubt, the entirety of Laker nation will be holding their breath as the picks are announced.

Cleveland landed the No. 1 pick that year and guard Baron Davis via a trade with the Clippers in exchange for guard Mo Williams and forward Jamario Moon.

Does the random lottery determine each of the top 14 picks? They are in an interesting situation since they have yet to be eliminated from the playoffs.

Not once have the Wolves ever improved their draft position in the lottery.

With that said, the Celtics have a 46.5% chance at getting one of the top 2 picks and a 64.3% chance at getting one of the top 3.

In Metro's latest NBA Mock Draft, we have the Celtics taking Washington point guard Markelle Fultz No. 1 overall. Near the end of the last season, they started showing signs of breaking out and being a contender. The Lakers jumped from fourth in the lottery standings to second by the kindness of the pingpong balls and selected D'Angelo Russell second overall.

It's just not quite clear how related these two facts are - so bear with us as we dive in. "Tonight it happened to be me". KEEP AN EYE ON: Isaiah Thomas' free-throw attempts. "We just gotta stay in the moment", Thomas said of Friday's Game 6.

I built the south stand. "At that point, I was just scoring headers!" It will be tough for us and tough for them. It's not about playing well or running around more or less, it's about when you must win, you win.

What this misses is that many who thought Comey was wrong in the Clinton case were also strongly opposed to his being fired. Not only are they digging for what is happening, but they are examining why it is happening, and what else may happen.

If you are unfamiliar with how the NBA's weighted lottery works, it involves 14 ping-pong balls numbered 1 through 14.

The Knicks will be wishing and swishing Tuesday night and hoping they're not moping. The draft order for the teams that do not win one of the top three picks will be determined by inverse order of their regular-season record. These teams already have some talented young stars in place, but a speculated National Basketball Association trade could see the Philadelphia 76ers send Jahlil Okafor to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for veteran guard Brandon Knight.

The Wolves don't need youth - they need veteran experience.

For the opposite reason, the Orlando Magic have a lot to lose on lottery night.

Representing the Wolves at the draft lottery two years ago in NY were Taylor and wife Becky, and they got the No. 1 pick and took Towns from Kentucky. If the Pelicans keep the pick we'll be writing about their various options, and if not we'll still be writing about our favorite second round picks New Orleans can target with the 40th selection.

How do you feel about a 2.9 percent chance of hitting it big?

Assuming the Kings don't have bad luck Tuesday, they will have two picks in June that could help bring cornerstone players to a franchise that just finished its 11th consecutive losing season. In other words, the odds are better of them getting the 4 pick than they are of them getting the top pick.

There's only a.007 percent chance of that happening, but it would be pretty hilarious if it did.
