Support for marijuana legalization just hit an all time high

Since the state began selling recreational marijuana January 1, 2014 - combined with medical marijuana sales - Colorado has collected more than $400 million in taxes, a large chunk of which has gone towards schools. And only 23 percent think legalizing marijuana leads to an increase violent crime.

Sessions has said he believes marijuana causes "real violence", but most Americans disagree, CBS found. Roughly 70 percent of users support national legalization and federal regulation of the substance.

On Apr. 3, the governors of the four adult-use legal marijuana states-Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington-fired off a letter to Sessions and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, imploring them to "engage with us" before changing federal policies on enforcement.

The position is a reversal from the Obama administration's stance, which laid out in an official memo that the federal government wouldn't interfere in states where non-medical use of marijuana is allowed. The bill would also impose a $50-per-ounce tax on marijuana at the wholesale level while consumers would be subject to the state's 6.25 percent sales tax.

They just went and signed Mike Glennon , so this seems to be a move where Trubisky would to grow and learn for a couple of years. In a draft considered deep in defensive talent, seven of the first 10 players taken were on the offensive side.

Should Marijuana Use be Legal? "I think it's a more unsafe drug than a lot of people realize".

The results found that most Americans think weed is safer than alcohol. Majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and independents all agree. And numerous regulations imposed on Colorado's gaming industry have also been applied to recreational marijuana, Brohl said. That suggests that even many people who say it's as unsafe as other drugs such as heroin perhaps don't truly believe that. Whether or not this swing in public opinion will be enough to deter his efforts remains to be seen, but, if current trends hold, public support of legal marijuana will only continue to grow.

And 88 percent - about as close to a consensus as you get in polling - support using it for medicinal purposes. Parents who have never tried marijuana, however, fear marijuana above all other risky behaviors.

Those over 65 are the most opposed to legalization, but most under age 65 support it. Americans under 35 show the strongest support. American voters are 60-34 percent in favor of the measure.
